The
model
7450
was
the
first
LPL
4"x5"
enlarger.
Utilizing
the
rigid
column
of
the
already
successful
7700
series
enlargers,
a
new
lamphouse
and
carriage
were
designed
to
accommodate
the
larger
4"x5"
format.
Most
notable
in
the
lamphouse
design
was
the
modular
filtration
system.
This
allowed
the
user
to
purchase
the
enlarger
with
the
filtration
system
that
best
suited
their
primary
needs,
but
the
other
modules
could
be
purchased
as
accessories,
and
be
quickly
and
easily
interchanged
to
reconfigure
the
enlarger
for
a
different
type
of
printing.
Three
modules
were
available
-
a
Dichroic Colour Module for
colour printing, VCCE Module for printing on variable
contrast B&W papers, and the B&W Diffusion module
for printing
with
graded B&W papers.
This
innovative
new
enlarger
was
enthusiastically
received
in
the
marketplace.
In
the
USA,
the
LPL
model
7450
was
marketed
by
the
Saunders
Group
as
the
Saunders/LPL
4500.
