The Omega C-II was introduced shortly after the Super Omega B and replaced the
rather short-lived Model C. In design and features it closely resembled
the Super models. Like them, it had dual steel column rails, which made it
rather heavy. It did lack the upper bellows of the Super models, and therefore
the negative stage did not tilt, the negative carriers did not rotate, and the
C-II required separate condenser sets for 6x6 and 35mm formats. But at about
60% of the cost of a Super Omega C, it represented a very sturdy modern medium
format enlarger at a moderate price. Perhaps the greatest significance of the C-II is that is served as the basis for the famous D-II 4x5 enlarger, introduced a year later. When the C-II and Super C were discontinued, the "C" designation was retired until the 1970's. Used Advice: An early and relatively rare model. Parts will be difficult to obtain. |
